However, gender is sometimes shown by different forms or different words when referring to people or animals.<\/p>\n<p>EXAMPLES<\/p>\n<p>Masculine, Feminine, Gender neutral<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>man, woman, person<\/li>\n<li>father, mother, parent<\/li>\n<li>boy, girl, child<\/li>\n<li>uncle, aunt<\/li>\n<li>husband, wife, spouse<\/li>\n<li>actor, actress<\/li>\n<li>prince, princess<\/li>\n<li>waiter, waitress, server<\/li>\n<li>rooster, hen, chicken<\/li>\n<li>stallion, mare, horse<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Many nouns that refer to people&#8217;s roles and jobs can be used for either a masculine or a feminine subject, like for example, cousin, teacher, doctor, student, friend, colleague.<\/p>\n<p>EXAMPLES<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mary is my friend. She is a doctor.<\/li>\n<li>Peter is my cousin. He is a doctor.<\/li>\n<li>Arthur is my friend. He is a student.<\/li>\n<li>Jane is my cousin. She is a student.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is possible to make the distinction for these neutral words by adding the words <em>male<\/em> or <em>female<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>EXAMPLES<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sam is a female doctor.<\/li>\n<li>No, he is not my boyfriend, he is just a male friend<\/li>\n<li>I have three female cousins and two male cousins.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Infrequently, nouns describing things without a gender are referred to with a gendered pronoun to show familiarity.
